Is So Good
Psalm 116
17 I will sacrifice a thank offering to you
and call on the name of the LORD.
Not all sacrifices in the Old
Testament days were given on solemn occasions with downcast hearts
and heads. Sometimes we get the wrong picture of the Temple
service that took place.
To give a sacrifice of Thanks,
the person would bake a nice cake and bring it to the altar with
Joy and Thanksgiving in the heart. Praise and singing
accompanied this act. We sing a song built from Old
Testament Scripture that goes like this: I
will enter HIS Gates with
Thanksgiving in my heart
I will enter HIS Courts with
Praise
I will say, "This is the Day that the LORD
has made!"
I will rejoice for HE has made
me Glad! In Old
Testament times, there were days of feasts and rejoicing which far
outnumbered the days of solemnity and repentance. How
is your life? Do your days of rejoicing far outnumber the
solemnity? The LORD JESUS
would have it that way. The enemy of your soul who is also
called "the accuser of the brethren" would have you constantly
depressed and guilty. The
first line of every Monday Joy evotion written by Pastor Mark each
Monday for the last 8 years goes like this: Today,
being Monday, the first busy day of your week, we pray that you
get your 'JOY' ON
and praise the LORD
with us, the whole week long! Not
just a nice sounding sentence, but it is the LORD'S
Perfect Will for HIS
followers. No matter what you are going through (and I am
sure it is a lot!), we must bring HIM the
offering of Thanksgiving, because that is what HE
deserves. When we do so, we do it with Exceeding Great Joy
and a Light and Happy Heart!
