When
trouble seems to great
2 Corinthians 1:8-11 (New Living Translation)
I think you ought to know, dear brothers and
sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were
crushed and completely overwhelmed, and we thought we would never live through
it. In fact, we expected to die.
But as a result, we learned not to rely on
ourselves, but on God who can raise the dead. And he did deliver us from
mortal danger. And we are confident that he will continue to deliver us. He
will rescue us because you are helping by praying for us. As a result, many
will give thanks to God because so many people's prayers for our safety have
been answered.
It is good to know that the
writer of much of the New Testament (Paul, the Apostle) had rough
times. In fact, he had some of the roughest times anyone
could have. But he had a very interesting approach to those
times. When
hard times came, he retreated into the arms of JESUS!
He was safe, delivered from trouble and learned a few great
lessons. 1. Rely on
the LORD, not on yourself 2.
Be confident that HE will
deliver 3. Get people
to pray Rely on the
LORD, not on yourself There
is one thing I used to be, and that is able to take care of almost
anything that came my way. No matter what the problem, I was
able to work it out. You
know, it is funny how things have changed. I have been
faced with difficulties over the last few years that were beyond
my scope. So, I have learned to trust in the LORD.
Or rather, I am learning to trust in HIM. I
have a long way to go, and so do you, I am sure. Don't be
discouraged because of great trial in which you find
yourself. If you find your feet in shifting sand
right now, realize that as you trust in JESUS
for your deliverance, HE is
building a concrete foundation under your feet. If
you are presently finding yourself in a situation that is beyond
your ability to solve, just hit reply and let us know so we can
pray with you. It is always good to find that our messages
are relevant. Keep your
eyes fixed on HIM and there
will be a time of great rejoicing coming! More tomorrow . .
