When
trouble seems too great
2 Corinthians 1:8-11 (New Living Translation)
I think you ought to know, dear brothers and
sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were
crushed and completely overwhelmed, and we thought we would never live through
it. In fact, we expected to die.
But as a result, we learned not to rely on
ourselves, but on God who can raise the dead. And he did deliver us from
mortal danger. And we are confident that he will continue to deliver us. He
will rescue us because you are helping by praying for us. As a result, many
will give thanks to God because so many people's prayers for our safety have
been answered.
Day Two
Be confident that HE will
deliver
The second step to learning
what Paul knew regarding how to face difficulties is to be
confident that HE will
deliver. When you look up the word confident in the
dictionary, one of the meanings is to be certain that an
event is inevitable.
Inevitable means incapable
of failing! This is the closest phrase to describe what
Paul is saying: "And we are confident that he will continue to deliver us."
He knew that JESUS
was there for him, because HE
had been there in the past. He had built a track record
with the LORD. There
is only one way to do this and that is to put yourself in a place
where your faith is tested, and patiently wait on the LORD
to deliver you. And HE
always will! As we live for HIM,
HE guarantees our
success in our life and work. Understand that we don't
always feel successful. Humankind can be very skittish
when it comes to our faith and our experiences in this life.
No one likes the rough times, but they come to strengthen
us. Allow yourself to be confident in the
inevitability of JESUS
delivering you from your present trial! HE
will! HE
always does. As the old song says, JESUS
Never Fails!
