Samuel 8:14
He put garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to
David. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.

OK. David was on a roll
here. It seemed he could do no wrong. As an old
Christian saying goes, "He was in the Center of the LORD'S
Will!" Have you ever been there? I hope you have,
and maybe you are now.
It's like driving a car on a
new road. Everything is smooth, safe, comfortable and
exciting.
But to be perfectly honest,
there was a "wilderness experience" on both sides of
David's Center Experience. As a young man, he was
sort of an outcast of his family. He was the one who had to
stay in the pastures with the sheep. He was exposed to
lions, bears, extreme heat and extreme cold . . . . and
loneliness.
Then after a few great
victories, he was persecuted by the King of Israel, forced to live
in caves and was hunted like a wild beast.
At the end of his streak of
victories, he made a wrong turn on the new road and hit the
bumpy old dirt path, so to speak. So it was, that he had to
depend on the grace and mercy of the LORD
once again, to sustain himself.
The point of it all, David's
life is much like our own. He withstood persecution, he
walked in tremendous victory, he made bad choices that had very
difficult consequences. But, if you carefully read the
accounts of his life, you find that in every circumstance, his
hope, his help, his happiness . . . . always came from
his relationship with his GOD!
What a picture of the present
day follower of JESUS!
No matter what part of the Path you are on, it is meant by GOD
for you to cling to HIM!
HE purposes Victory for us, no
matter what road we are on!
