The
Victory
(continued)
Deuteronomy
20:3-4
He shall say: "Hear, O Israel, today you are going into
battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do
not be terrified or give way to panic before them. For the
LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you
against your enemies to give you victory."

Well, if you have been a reader
for a while, you probably realize that one of the premises from
which we write is the assumption that as a follower of JESUS,
you must go to battle.
Of course, this is in the
spiritual realm for most of us, but it is a battle
nonetheless. And like a battle, we can win or lose.
Losing can be devastating, winning is beyond all we desire.
So, it is important to win and
get the Victory. Yes? In our passage above, the people
of GOD had been readying the
people for battle. The Priest came to address the
armies. He told them the key to Victory.
Here are the steps in two
actions:
-
Don't be afraid, worried,
faint-hearted, terrified, and do not give way to the enemy.
-
Realize the LORD
is with you!
I hope you see that the first
key is dependant on the second key. As we learn that the LORD
is with us, we can go to battle without fear and
apprehension. And the LORD
is with us!
When JESUS
came to show us HIS true
nature (because it is so easy for us to lose grasp of the nature
of GOD when we face the enemy)
HE repeatedly told HIS
flock, "Fear not!"
When we fear, it is a sure sign
that we have lost the perspective of the battle we
face. Always remember:
The Battle is the
LORD'S. HE will fight for us, and HE always wins!
I will leave you with a
wonderful Scripture that breaks down the steps we must follow:
James
4:7
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you.
First submit to the LORD,
now fight (resist) and the enemy will flee! He flees because
he sees the Shadow of the ALMIGHTY
GOD there with you! If
